Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how budd+I ("the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information. budd+I is developed and operated by Jacob Taylor, based in Australia.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to provide the app's features:

• First name — entered during onboarding, used to identify you to your habit buddies
• Habit data — habit names, completion records, streaks, and session logs you create in the app
• Anonymous user ID — a randomly generated identifier assigned by Firebase Authentication to link your data across devices
• Device token (FCM) — a push notification token used to deliver buddy activity notifications to your device
• Restore code — a randomly generated code stored locally and in our database to allow you to recover your account on a new device
• Subscription status — whether your account has an active Pro entitlement, stored so the app can apply the correct feature limits across devices
• Shared habit data — when you connect with a buddy, your display name and habit completion records are shared with that buddy in real time so they can see your progress (and vice versa)

We do not collect your email address, phone number, location, or any other personally identifiable information beyond your first name.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To sync your habit data across devices via Firebase Firestore
• To connect you with habit buddies and enable real-time progress sharing
• To send push notifications when your buddy completes a habit or you have a streak reminder
• To restore your account on a new device using your restore code
• To deliver nudge messages you choose to send to your habit buddies
• To generate invite links that allow you to share a habit with a friend

3. Invite Links

When you share an invite link for a habit, the link includes your habit's name and a unique join code in the URL (for example: budd-i.netlify.app/join?code=SB-XXXXXX). This URL is generated on your device and shared only with the people you choose to send it to.

We do not log or store who receives your invite links. The habit name is included in the URL solely to help the recipient understand what they are being invited to join. If you prefer not to include your habit name in a shareable link, you can share your join code manually instead — tap Enter code on the home screen to enter a code directly.

4. Third-Party Services

budd+I uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging) — used for user authentication, data storage, and push notifications. Firebase Privacy Policy
• Google AdMob — used to display advertisements in the free version of the app. AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS) and usage data for ad personalisation. Ads are only shown to free-plan users. Google Privacy Policy
• RevenueCat — used to manage Pro subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat may collect purchase history, subscription status, and a pseudonymous user identifier linked to your app account. RevenueCat Privacy Policy

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase infrastructure located in the australia-southeast1 region (Sydney, Australia). We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, however no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as you use the app.

To delete your account and all associated data, open the app and go to Settings → Delete account. Tapping Delete in the confirmation dialog immediately and permanently removes your account. All data stored in our database is deleted automatically by our server once your account is removed.

Alternatively, you can contact us at the email address below with your restore code (found in Settings in the app) and we will remove your account manually within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

budd+I is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. User-Generated Content

budd+I allows you to send short nudge messages to your habit buddies. You are solely responsible for the content of any messages you send. We do not monitor, moderate, or review nudge messages. By using the nudge feature, you agree not to send content that is offensive, abusive, or inappropriate. Jacob Taylor accepts no responsibility for the content of messages sent between users.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data — available immediately in-app via Settings → Delete account, or by contacting us
• Withdraw consent at any time by deleting the app

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
